SwedeTech Race Report - SKUSA ProKart Willow Springs

March 7, 2016

The second round of the SKUSA California ProKart Challenge was held at the fastest road in the west, Willow Springs Raceway Park.  Participation was strong in most of the shifter classes, and the pits were full.  SwedeTech was on hand offering tech support to our customers, and even troubleshooting some non-SwedeTech engine packages.

In the headline S1 Pro Stock Moto class, Jimmy McNeil narrowly missed the pole position, but he went back to the pits to fine tune his Team Visalia CRG and went on to win both the heat races and eventually the Main Event.

Jacob Neal, VRP Racing / Kartspeed Motorsports TonyKart,  put in a strong effort to finish the main event in third place, followed by Marco Eakins, Black Flag Motorsports FK, in fourth.  Brian Keck, Keck Motorsports CRG, had a tough weekend with a few on track racing incidents forcing him to start in the back of the field, but salvaging the weekend with a sixth place finish.

The S2 Intermediate Stock Moto drivers were run with the Pro S1 drivers, and Kol Bailey, Pure Karting TonyKart, was able to lay down the fastest overall lap in the main event on his way to a strong second place finish.  Hunter Pickett, Pickett Motorsports Aluminos, had a strong showing over the weekend, driving into the third position.  Matt Koerner, Nevada KartSport TonyKart, and Robert Heck, Jr., Nash Motorsportz CRG, finished a solid sixth and seventh place for the main event.

In the S5 Jr Stock Moto class, Ricco Shlaimoun, Nash Motorsports CRG, qualified in the pole position, and finished both heats and the main event with a handful of second place finishes.  A good points weekend for Ricco.

The S4 Masters and the S4 SuperMasters Stock Moto drivers always put on a good show.  Darren Elliot, Nash Motorsports CRG took the main event win.  Robert Marks, Team Visalia CRG, finished a solid third place while also taking fast lap honors.  Vivek Tandon, Monster Digital CRG, drove his package to a fourth place position.

S4 Super Masters were running at the same time as the S4 Masters group.  Ken Schilling, Extreme Karting Vemme, took the main event win while being chased down by Darrell Tunnel, Team Visalia CRG, who would wrap up the second spot.  Luke Bianco, Team Visalia CRG, had a consistent weekend, finish the main in fifth.

SwedeTech plans on supporting customers at the next round of the PKC in Monterey, CA on April 2nd.
